Profile Information

How did you hear about this site InHouston?
I created InHouston.ning.com. I was growing my LinkedIn network (now over 6750+ direct connects and over 14 million in the network) and realized that lots of them were here in Houston. So, I started a LinkedIn group. That grew, so I invited them to start up the conversation around events at inhouston.ning.com. Now we are over 1000 members on the Ning site and over 2000 in the LinkedIn group. Now that isn't a 10th of the Houston members of LinkedIn and is a small portion of my group of Houston contacts, but we are growing at a good clip as people join and get involved. Networking/Netweaving Motivations

Why Network/Netweave? What are your motivations?

I cannot pretend to know your motivations, but as I continue to learn and grow I can share where I have been.

When I started out to get on the path to networking, I didn't even know there was such thing as netweaving. So, what were my motivations?

Initially, fear motivated me to not do anything, but like the millions of pounds of thrust from the rockets on the space shuttle help it to overcome gravity and inertia and eventually leave Earth for… Continue

Too many events and too many people to meet, but not enough time in the day?

On InHouston, we are blessed to have tons of great events and new venues and meetings starting up every month. We have many great people who are centers of influence and get pay-it-forward networking.

We list meetings happening every day. If you just went to every meeting on InHouston, you'd meet alot of great people and be very busy. But, you'd never meet everyone on InHouston.

There are over 4000 on InHouston.ning.com and over 6000 on the LinkedIn InHouston group.

So, when you find time in… Continue

Note to Self: Give first in a recession

Dear self,

Don't give up

I know that watching the news makes you numb, and it feels like you have somehow stepped into a different and parallel universe.

No matter how much you want to curl up on the couch and hide from the outside world, it is NOW that the world needs servant leaders giving without expecting anything in return.

Seeking Start-ups

In this tough time, it is very hard to get financing for startups.

I'd like to encourage the creation and proper funding of startups.

Do you know any startups?

I am a no-cost resource for business advice for startups and I can help them find funding for the right deals. More importantly, I want to help them develop revenue as soon as possible.

Who should I talk to?

Eric, I can't tell you how impressed I was with the Mixer Wednesday night. As you know, I just joined InHouston and have been quire impressed with the folks I've met via the group & how generous everyone has been with their time and willingness to share resources - truly a collaborate and friendly environment. I will contact Tex and see if there's anything I can do to help his campaign. Matt

Love this quote from you on the InHouston testimonials page!

"If you worry less about how you can give your 30 second schpeel and more about asking good questions and building trust with those you meet, you are on the right step."

Hi Eric,

I joined last fall and have been to a few events, but not many lately. My store is open till 7pm and it is a little hard to get out early. I am hoping to get more involved. I am hiring now and wondered if there was a place I could post jobs? I looked around on the site, but did not see anything.
