What type of engineering design do you do? We work with a lot of engineering designers to bring their designs and concepts to life with 3D computer animation and graphics (go to my InHouston page and you'll find a link to our demo reel on the left). Please let me know if we can be of any assistance. It would be great to meet.

Here are my thoughts on successful job searching.

Networking is the key. Nurturing one's network is vital.
Linkedin (adding connections, joining many Groups, posting Discussions, Reading List)
Linkedin – join groups (can contact people without being directly connected)
Linkedin – post discussions (helps people and gets your name out there. Ask people to Invite you).
Facebook, Plaxo Pulse, Perfect Networker, InHouston, Ecademy (a little more personal and can update more quickly)
Professional Associations - volunteering and attending events (Project Management Institute, US Green Building Council, American Marketing Association, National Space and Technology Association)
Professional networking (Chambers or local groups such as InHouston or Houston Networking News)
Job clubs (community colleges or religious institutions)
Toastmasters International (polish those speaking skills and great networking)
Ethnic associations (National Hispanic Professional Organization, National Society of Hispanic MBA's)
High School and College alumni associations (University of Phoenix)
Local affiliations (Houston Wellness Association)
Talk to people everywhere (I met a recruiter while waiting in line to register my car)
Help others by giving back and paying it forward

Suggested reading:
Keith Ferrazzi's "Never Eat Alone" and new book "Who’s Got Your Back"
"Roadmap to Re-Employment" by Robert Wolf and Paul Ferreri (I knew them in Tampa)
Jason Alba's "I'm on Linkedin - Now What", Linkedin for the Jobseeker DVD, and www.jibberjobber.com

Misc.
Metal, magnetic name badge (wear on the right side)
Email address with professional name
Business cards everywhere (with Linkedin address)
Linkin with Vincent Wright, Eric Standlee, and RD Yoder then join their Groups (Linking the…., InHouston, and Houston Networking News)
SMILE AND BE FRIENDLY. NOTHING IS AS CONTAGIOUS AS A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!!!

Please feel free to post any other ideas and to send me an Invite so you can leverage my network.
